Walker County is home to a major segment of the Nations newest Interstate highway, I-22. Interstate 22 runs 213 miles from Birmingham, Alabama to Memphis, Tennessee and connects I-240, I-40, I-55, and I-69 in Memphis with I-65 and I-20/I-59 in Birmingham. Walker County has 42 miles of interstate highway with a total of eleven interchanges. I-22 is a six lane highway from exit 63 in Jasper to Birmingham. The final connection with I-65 was completed and opened to traffic on June 20th, 2016.
